If you’re among millions of bat enthusiasts worldwide, you want to learn how to draw a bat. Then you’ve come to the right place! We have created this easy step-by-step how to draw a bat in 9 easy steps to make drawing a bat fun and easy to learn.

How to Draw A Bat

Step 1

Let’s start with a small circle as the first step in learning how to draw a bat.

The circle doesn’t have to be perfect, and using a slightly jagged line for your circle will make your bat look a little furry.

Ensure you leave a small gap in the circle in the same place as in the reference image!

Step 2

Once you’ve drawn your bat’s head, you can add the bat’s pointy ears.

To do this, draw two straight lines with curves going out from them, as you can see in the picture.

Step 3

Now that you’ve drawn your bat’s head and ears, you can start drawing the first wing. Following the reference image will be very helpful at this stage!

Slowly and carefully draw the grand piano frame, as you can see in the photo. To do this, use a combination of straight and curved lines. It can be tricky, so there’s no need to rush!

If you find this step difficult, draw with a light-colored pencil before reviewing it with the pen.

Step 4

You’ve drawn the first wing of your bat drawing. Now, you have to complete a mirror image of the wing on the opposite side.

Copy exactly what you did in Step 3, but in reverse, and you’ll have both sash frames in no time!

Step 5

Now that you’ve drawn the wing frames, it’s time to add the webbed underside of the wings.

To do this, add some curved lines between the tips of the sash frames, as you can see in the picture.

After you’ve added the webbed portions of the wings, you can add a small line for the lower body of your racquet.

Step 6

You’re almost drawn to your club, so we’ll add the finishing touches and some final elements in the next few steps.

In the sixth step of this tutorial on how to draw a bat, we will add the bat’s legs.

Using curved lines and dots, draw the little legs with the sharp little claws at the end, as you can see in the photo.

Once the legs are complete, you can draw a sharp line underneath to represent the underside of the wing.

Step 7

Next, we will add a cute face to your bat design. Using circles and smaller lines, you can start by adding some eyes for your bat and a small nose and mouth.

You can go strictly with the image and try to draw it this way, but you can also get creative with the look and change the facial expression of your bat drawing.

Once the face is drawn, you can draw in the inner ear area of your bat’s ears.

Step 8

Your bat drawing is now almost complete! Now all that remains is to add a few small lines to the soft, leathery parts of the wings to make it look like the skin is stretched between the wing frames.

With these final details in mind, finalizing your excellent bat award is the next step!

Step 9

Now all you need to finish your awesome bat drawing is some paint! Here you can put your artistic skills to the test and let your imagination run wild.

We’ve shown one way to color it with our reference image, but you should take your inspiration and use all your favorite colors!

You can further personalize your drawing by giving it an interesting background.

You could paint the background dark blue with a bright yellow moon to make it look like your bat is flying in the night sky!

You can also enjoy various artistic mediums at this stage. Using mediums like watercolors, acrylics, crayons, and pencils can be a lot of fun for excellent color variations!
